Matthew Gardner is a real estate economist with over 25 years analyzing residential and commercial markets nationwide. He founded Gardner Economics in 1999 and was Chief Economist for Windermere Services Company between 2014 to 2023. He is a trusted media source and gives more than 50 speeches a year across the country. He holds degrees from Oxford and the London School of Economics.

Matthew Gardner is a real estate economist with more than 25 years of experience analyzing residential and commercial markets across the United States. He is the founder and principal of Gardner Economics, a Seattle-based consulting firm advising public- and private-sector clients on real estate development throughout the western U.S. His client roster includes the General Services Administration, AvalonBay, Legacy Partners, Vulcan Real Estate, and Weyerhaeuser Real Estate, and he also serves as an expert witness in state and federal real estate matters.

From 2014 to 2023, Gardner was the Chief Economist for Windermere Services Company. In this capacity he provided leading economic research and market analysis for their network of over 6,000 brokers across nine western states authoring quarterly market reports and white papers on mortgage forecasting, demographics, construction, and other housing related trends trends.

A prolific public speaker, Gardner delivers an average of 50 speeches a year to industry and consumer audiences and is a trusted media source quoted by every major national print outlet, all national broadcast networks, and numerous radio stations.

 

He holds a BA in Economics from Saint John's College, Oxford, and an MA in Economics & Applied Econometrics from the London School of Economics. He is a member of the Washington State Governor's Council of Economic Advisors and is a member of the Association of Washington Businesses’ Council of Economic Advisors.
